On this fishing trip you’ll have the opportunity to catch some incredible fish such as Skipjack Tuna, Dorado, Sailfish, Wahoo, Barracuda, Black Marlin, Spanish Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna.
Racha Yai Island
Located around 20km south of Phuket, Racha Yai is a great fishing spot. The island also has some incredible diving and snorkeling sites due to its clear waters and abundant marine life. The island is also home to several hiking trails, and amazing views of the Andaman Sea. There are also several waterfalls on the island, which are a great place to cool off on a hot day.

- 08:00: Pick-up at your hotel
- 08:30: Depart from Ao Chalong Pier and Trolling begins on the way to Racha Yai
- 10:30: Arrive at Racha Yai Island for swimming and snorkleing
- 12:00: Lunch is served
- 13:00: Bottom fishing is started
- 15:00: Trolling is started as we slowly head back to Ao Chalong Pier
- 16:30: Arrive at Chalong Pier and trsnafer back to your hotel
- 17:00: Arrive at your hotel

FAQ's
What fish can I catch on the fishing trip?
Depending on the season, you’ll have a different chance of catching different types of fish. Most commonly caught fish on this trip are skipjack tuna, mackerel and occasionally Sailfish, Marlin and Barracuda. If you’re looking to catch the larger fish, we recommend our private fishing charter trips to Racha Yai or Racha Noi islands where you get a more bespoke trip. Can I bring alcohol, or my own drinks or food?
You can bring your own drinks and food onboard however, since it’s a group fishing, you may not bring alcohol onboard. For a more bespoke trip, see our private fishing charter trips, where alcohol is allowed.
Can you purchase alcohol and serve it to us?
Unfortunately, we’re not able to purchase any alcohol.
Can I take/bring home the fish with me?
Any fish that was caught and depending on availability, can be brought home by guests. Please let the crew know.
What happens if the weather is too bad?
The weather is constantly monitored by us and we frequently check Thai Meteorological Department’s website for weather updates and warnings. If the weather/sea conditions are too bad, or TMD has issued a warning, we will inform you before your trip and ask to move to another date, which also suits you. New trip date also depends on boat availability. You can also choose to cancel the trip and get refund 100% of purchased price. Please see Terms & Conditions for more details.
How do I pay?
As of 01 April 2024, due to various ‘no shows’, we only accept advanced payment that are made through Sommai Fishing Tour’s website, using payment link which will be sent to your email from contact@sommaifishingtour.com or official Facebook/WhatsApp (sometimes under Hello Andaman Tours).

If you stay in Phuket – Rawai, Chalong, Kata, Karon, Patong areas, we might be able to arrange for someone to pickup payment (cash in THB only accepted). Please contact us in such case.
What is the latest time I can book a trip?
Can I cancel or change the date of the trip?
You can cancel the trip 24 hours before trip and get a refund, however, depending on when your payment was made, a small cancellation fee might be applied. T&C applies, please see Terms & Conditions. You can also change trip date (depending on availability) at least 24 hours before your trip free of charge. Later cancellations are subject to a charge. Please see Terms & Conditions.
What if I prefer vegetarian, pescatarian or halal food?
We are able to arrange some food preferences. Please mentioned it in your booking under ‘Requests’.
Can I drive to the meeting point for the tour using my own transportation?
Can the itinerary be changed?
Adjustments to the itinerary is not possible due to it being a join-in fishing trip and a fixed schedule. For a bespoke trip, please see our private fishing charter trips where you can adjust the program to your liking.
How many guests will be onboard?
There will be max 15 guests onboard each join-in fishing trip.
